HAGERSTOWN, Md. (April 13, 2016) – The Washington County Board of County Commissioners, is pleased to announce the appointment of Dawn Hatzer to the Washington County Economic Development Commission (EDC).
Hatzer is the executive director of the Western Maryland Consortium, a quasi-government organization assisting people with training and job placement.
“Hatzer’s experience working as a nonprofit professional as well as her knowledge developing educational programs makes her a valuable member of the team as we address workforce development
issues in the county,” said Kassie Lewis, director of Department of Business Development.
Previously, Hatzer served as director of Operations and Governance for the Society of Neuroscience. Prior to that, she served as the executive director of the Direct Marketing Association of Washington where she developed new educational programs.
To ensure adequate representation of industries found within Washington County, the Department of Business Development has created a skills matrix. This matrix outlines current board member’s industry expertise and ensures the needs of the business community are met. Hatzer’s appointment will give voice to the workforce development community.
Hatzer will fulfill an unexpired term through June 30, 2016. Upon fulfilling the unexpired term, she will be eligible for two, three year terms.
