What resources do you need to launch a business idea?

Washington County, Maryland Department of Business Development wants to know how we can help grow your business idea? With more than 28 million small businesses in America accounting for 54 percent of all U.S. sales, we want your business idea to get in on the action.

If you’re in the pre-start-up phase or tinkering with a business idea, visit Here, you’ll take a five-question survey to let the Department of Business Development know what resources you need to take your idea from your garage or basement to a real-life store front or office space.

Once you’ve completed the survey, a business support specialist will be in touch to schedule a consultation. You’ll have a chance to review your idea and determine which free counseling sessions and small business resources will help you meet your goals to launch a business.

Just ask Anegada Delights – our first My Biz Idea program graduate. We worked closely with Elizabeth to provide business counseling in partnership with the Maryland Small Business Development Center and we now have our first brick and mortar example of a business idea brought to life. The proof is in the delectable, spicy jerk chicken you can find at 66 East Franklin Street in Hagerstown.

Maybe you have questions about where to begin? We’ve got you covered and can help you find answers to:

  • How do I move my business idea to the marketplace?
  • Will my idea sell?
  • Who is my competition?
  • How much money do I need to get a business off the ground?
