Meet local farmers and enjoy fresh product right from the source
The Washington County Department of Business Development Office of Agricultural Business Development invites the community to get in on the farm fresh local harvest at orchards across Washington County this fall.
“Visitors to our farms can expect to see apples, cider and more straight from the farm field,” said Leslie Hart, agricultural business development specialist with Washington County Department of Business Development. “Exposure to farm-fresh foods is yet another way for our community to connect with healthy food options.”
Washington County is home to 23 orchards, several of which are buy-on-site operations, including:
Apples, currently in season, are extremely rich in important antioxidants, flavanoids, and dietary fiber. The phytonutrients and antioxidants in apples may help reduce the risk of developing cancer, hypertension, diabetes, and heart disease.
